A 100 kilogram substance suspected to be cocaine has been intercepted by the Narcotic Control Commission at the Tema Port.
The alleged substance, estimated to have a street value of $10 million was found buried within a 40-foot container loaded with rice and sugar.
While investigations have already commenced into the development, sources say, the container is part of 50 other consignments that have been assigned to a company in the country identified as Global Cargo and Commodities Limited.
The situation has resulted in the seizure of the containers so further searches can be conducted.
Jacob Gbati, the Chief Executive Officer for Global Cargo and Commodities Limited, has been allegedly arrested and is currently assisting the police with investigations.
