The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has called on Government to provide tax waivers for businesses, particularly industries in the country.
The call for tax cuts by AGI, comes on the back of a research conducted by AGI which indicate that businesses prefer tax cuts to stimulus packages provided by Government amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our research shows that stimulus packages by Government are not really what businesses need as it came second place among the list of preferred Government interventions, what came first was tax incentives, and that’s what businesses really need. So we will engage with Government with the new data we have and we believe the Association will get a good response from Government,” said CEO of the AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah, to norvanreports.
Speaking further he noted that per the association’s research, 81 per cent of large businesses will recover from the Covid-19 crisis in June 2021.
Meanwhile, Parliament during last week alone, approved tax waivers amounting to Ghs 30 million for some businesses in the country.
