Sources within Ghana’s Central Bank, have confirmed to norvanreports, that the Bank is not printing 500 Ghana cedis notes as speculated by a section of the public.

A 500 Ghana cedis note – resembling the Ghs 50 note – with pictures of ex-presidents of the Fourth Republic and incumbent president, President Akufo-Addo captured on it has surfaced on social media.

But the BoG responding to norvanreports on the claim, noted that neither has the Bank dreamt of nor has any plan of printing the higher denomination bank note.

Sources within the BoG, noted that the Bank is however, not surprised at the development as this is not the first time such illegal bank notes have popped up online.

Ghana at the moment has two higher denominations which are the Ghs 100 and Ghs 200 notes launched in 2019 by the BoG.

The two higher denominations among others are meant to facilitate large transactions.
