The Centre of Awareness Food Supplement (COA FS) has been rebranded as COA Mixture by producing company, COA Herbal Centre.
The rebranding of the product follows the withdrawal of COA FS from the market and subsequent suspension of the license of the company, after reports indicated that the product was contaminated with some microbial substances making it unsafe for human consumption.
The company, was then compelled by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to suspend production in April this year and fix its processes and manufacturing plant.
Reports indicate that the company has spent millions of dollars in revamping the production plant into a fully-fledged state-of-the-art herbal research centre now named COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited (COA RMCL) located in the Central Region.
Founder and CEO of COA, Professor Samuel Ato Duncan, at the launch of COA Mixture noted that COA Mixture has met all requirements of the FDA and assured the public that the product is now completely safe for public consumption.
“COA has now been certified to be marketed as a herbal medicine and not just a food supplement like before and Government has even agreed for COA Mixture to be distributed to all 40 Government health facilities across the country,” he stated.
Director of the Centre for Plant Medicine Research in Mampong, Dr. Kofi Bobi Barima in a media engagement after the launch, ascertained the high standards and authenticity of the new product, saying it is safe for human consumption and still efficacious against viral organisms as always.
