The Egyptian court rejected the appeal filed by Ever Given’s owner, Shoei Kisen, according to Bloomberg.
The company had filed an appeal before the Ismailia court against a ruling that allowed authorities to seize control of the vessel.
Rejection of the appeal means that the vessel will remain in Egypt until the next hearing on May 22nd.
According to Enterprise, the basis of the rejection was due to the owner failing to notify “all concerned parties” at the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) of a given time limit.
On April 14th, SCA decided to impound Ever Given vessel until receiving the requested $900 million compensation.
A day earlier, the Ismailia Economic Court approved the seizure request regarding the Ever Given container ship until receiving compensation.
Navigation along the canal resumed on March 29th at 6 pm local time, following the successful refloating of Ever Given giant container vessel which blocked Canal Suez for six days since March 23rd
