Civil Society Organization (CSO), One Ghana Movement, is calling for the extension of Mr Daniel Domelevo’s role as the Auditor-General.
One Ghana Movement in a press release stated that Mr Domelevo must be left to serve his full term as the Auditor-General, describing attempts to oust him as the Auditor-General as ‘witch-hunting.’
“We recommend an extension of his stay within the permissible limits of law, if any, as he is most worthy having worked to improve the image and standing of the institution and is on record as the only Auditor-General to have fought and won to recover millions of cedis for the State,” said One Ghana Movement.
Mr Domemlevo’s retirement age is being challenged by the Audit Service Board.
On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, the Audit Service Board announced that the Auditor- General is deemed to have retired in June 2020 due to some anomalies in his personal records.
In a series of letters between the Chairman of the Audit Service Board, Prof. Edward Dua Agyeman and Mr Domelevo, the latter was asked to explain these anomalies or have some actions taken against him.
The Board alleged that records at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) provided by the Auditor-General indicated that his date of birth was 1960 when he joined the scheme on October 1, 1978.
The Board further alleges that his date of birth was later changed to June 1, 1961.
