Ghana, US to hold talks on trade and investment amid AfCFTA
A delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Officials of the Ghanaian Government will in the coming days hold talks on trade and investment among the two countries in the context of the operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) in a High-Level Business Forum.
The High-Level Business Forum scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2021, will look at deepening commercial partnerships between Ghana and the United States as well as the U.S- Africa commercial relations in general.
Themed Promoting U.S.- Ghana Partnership through Trade and Investment, the Forum comes on the back of Ghana’s hosting of the (AfCFTA) Secretariat and also after several months of trading through the AfCFTA.
The Forum aims to strengthen trade and investment, promote business partnerships, and opportunities between U.S. and Ghanaian and also review trading under the AfCFTA and assess how U.S. and Ghanaian companies can take advantage of this opportunity.
At the end of the conference, it is expected that U.S.-Ghana commercial partnership will be projected and enhanced, focused on improving the investment climate in Ghana and the African continent.
The Forum will be virtual with plenary sessions and panel discussions on pertinent topics including Technology and Digitization, Energy and Mining, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Services and Franchising.
Participants of the Forum will be brought up-to-date on the latest trends on trade and investment on the continent and will have the opportunity to share their experiences and identify specific investment opportunities for future transactions.
Speakers at the Forum include Honourable Alan Kyerematen- Ghana’s Minister of Trade & Industry; Constance Hamilton, Assistant United States Trade Representative for Africa; Ayesha Bedwei, President, American Chamber of Commerce-Ghana; Scott Eisner, President, U.S.-Africa Business Center (U.S Chamber of Commerce); H.E. Stephanie S. Sullivan, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana; H.E. Hajia Alima Mahama, Ghana Ambassador to the U.S.; and Mr. Yofi Grant, CEO-Ghana Investment Promotion Center.
