Power transmission company, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), has assigned reasons to power outages experienced in some parts of the country on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Areas such as Accra, Tema and Kumasi in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions respectively, are reported to have witnessed a power outage around 6:55pm on the aforementioned date.
GRIDCo in a release following the power outage, explained that gas supply challenges for electricity production from Ghana’s offshore oil and gas fields resulted in the loss of over 1,000MW of power supply hence the power outage in the affected areas.
It however, noted that gas supply has resumed and electricity to the affected areas will soon be restored.
