A sit down strike by Gas Tanker drivers has caused an acute shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in some parts of the country.
The strike which reportedly begun on Wednesday, October 28, has taken a toll on consumers who depend on the product for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes were left stranded at the various LPG outlets.
The Greater Accra and Central Regions, norvanreports understand, have been the hardest hit by the four-day sit down strike fueled by low remuneration of tanker drivers and harassment from police officers.
The industrial strike by the Gas Tanker Drivers Union has however been called off following an ad hoc meeting between the Union and Minister for Employment and Labour relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Shortage in gas supply across the country, particularly to the hardest hit regions is therefore expected to normalize this week following the consensus reached by the Union and the Employment and Labour relations Ministry.
