Unilever Ghana emerges sole gainer on GSE at end of trading session on Tuesday
Unilever Ghana (UNIL) emerged as the sole gainer on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) at the end of trading session on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
The equity gained 4.28 percentage points in share price appreciation on Tuesday to close trading session with a stock price of Ghs 5.36 pesewas.
The recorded share price appreciation by the equity reflects a continuous price appreciation trend witnessed in the stock on the GSE for several weeks now.
The equity in share price terms, has now gone up by 168 percent in a month and 121.5 percent in just 3 weeks.
For the top traded equities on the GSE on Tuesday, TotalEnergies Ghana (Total) emerged the most traded stock with a volume and value trade of 7,500 and Ghs 31,500 accounting for 45.5 percent of total value traded.
Total was followed by MTNGh and UNIL in second and third places as the equities with the most traded volume. In terms of value traded, UNIL surpassed MTNGh.
MTNGh had a trade volume and value of 5,693 and Ghs 6,953 whereas UNIL had a trade volume and value of 5,383 and Ghs 28,655.
Meanwhile, the GSE closed on a high as the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) gained 1.31 points to close at 2,760.18 representing a YTD return of 42.16% on the back of price appreciation in UNIL shares.
The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) however remained flat at 1,912.09 at the close of trading, representing a YTD return of 7.25%. Market Capitalization thus increased to Ghs 62.84 billion translating into a YTD growth of 15.57%.
A total volume of 20,638 valued at Ghs 69,297.82 was traded in five (5) equities, a decline compared to Monday’s volume of 202,711 shares valued at Ghs 183,004.93.
